John Kafoure, 84, Indianapolis, passed away July 18, 2011. He was born September 5, 1926, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Frank and Julia (Kalil) Kafoure.
John served in the U.S Navy and the U.S. Army. Along with his father, they founded J & F Distributing Co. Inc. in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Murat Temple, and he was a Freemason. He was an active member of St. George Orthodox Christian Church, and was honored to receive the rank of Knight from the order of St. Ignatius of Antioch. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandson Connor.
He is survived by his son, Frank H. (Janet) Kafoure, Zionsville; Frank’s mother, Jean Kafoure, Nashville; grandson, Connor Jack Kafoure; two sisters, Ann Freije, Zionsville, and Pat (Bill) Freije, Carmel.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at St. George Orthodox Christian Church, 4020 North Sherman Drive. Visitation will be 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m., at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. George Orthodox Christian Church, The Orchard School, or to the March of Dimes.
