John 'Jack' Robert Canedy

Reverend John "Jack" Robert Canedy 87 of Indianapolis died December 30, 2014. Jack was born on November 23, 1927 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to Albert and Fern (Litherland) Canedy. Jack attended Purdue University and graduated from Transylvania College and Lexington Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained as Clergy of the Christian Church Disciple of Christ in 1953. Jack served as pastor in Tuscaloosa, AL; Carbondale, IL; Kankakee, IL and Indianapolis, IN. He also served as an interim minister in several churches in IL and IN after his retirement. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lewis Edward Canedy and his first wife Mary Lou (Elkins) Canedy. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11 am at the Allisonville Christian Church 7701 Allisonville Road Indianapolis, IN. Jack is survived by his wife Gloria (Lane) Canedy; three daughters Loris (Randall) Lane; Kara Down; Catherine (Randy) Sparks and two step daughters Cynthia Clark and Beth (Dan) Hays nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
