John “Jack” Daniel Andrews, age 96 of Indianapolis, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Spring Valley, Illinois to Daniel M & Mary C (Cassidy) Andrews. He was the oldest of four who were raised with a strong Catholic upbringing, shaping the foundation of his life.
He spent 1 1/2 years in the Army and 3 years in the Marines, serving his country with unwavering loyalty, Semper Fi. He was an outside sales representative for 43 years at Ryerson Steel. In 1975 he, along with his first wife Patricia, bought and established Timber Springs Tree Farm which provided Christmas Trees for Putnam County families for over a decade. It was at Timber Springs, where Jack was able to share his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. Jack was also an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner since 1962. He is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia, who passed away in 2002. Jack is survived by his second wife Marilyn (Zieles) Andrews, Daughters Diane York (Victor), Cathy Johnson, Jeanne Collins, and Son Scott Andrews (Ruth), 9 grand children, and 9 great grandchildren, plus 4 step sons Bob, Jim, Mike, and Rick Zieles, 10 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, located at 7243 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis 46219. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Father Michael O’Mara will officiate.
