John H. Matthews

John H. Matthews, 74, of Clearwater, FL since 2001, and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away November 29, 2013 in Safety Harbor, Florida. John was born September 18, 1939, in Indianapolis, IN the son of Raymond and Edna (Whitecotton) Matthews. He was a firefighter with the Indianapolis Fire Department from 1967 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Matthews, Jr. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene (Litz) Matthews; sons, Richard K. Matthews of Greenwood, IN and Chip R. Matthews of Clearwater, FL; and his daughter Darlene Gilliam of Indianapolis. Visitation will be Friday December 6, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street. Funeral services will be at 1PM on Friday at Flanner and Buchanan. Entombment in Washington Park East Cemetery.
