John George Corey, Jr.

John George Corey, Jr., Carmel. IN died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday, December 12, 2015. He was 79. He was born on October 24, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents, John G. Corey Sr. and Evelyn O. Corey. John grew up in Indianapolis and was a 1954 graduate of Broad Ripple High School, after which he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

John was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather as well as a great friend and loving husband. He was a kind and compassionate man who knew no strangers and whos smile was truly infectious. As much as he loved to travel, he loved being at home with family and friends celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. John also left his mark in the business world being a respected mentor to many and earning the nickname Godfather by his peers. He left this world a better place and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Being a life-long animal lover, John has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society and/or the United Hope Foundation. John is survived by his wife Ramona, children Dennis Perrin, John Corey III (Cindy), Jennifer Pearcy (Mike), Jeff Corey (Amy), and Chandra Cowen. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Joshua, Jonathan, Christy, Johnny, Katy, Jeff Jr, Tori, Jessie, and Henry and two great-grandchildren Kendra and Erica and his loving canine companion Nellie.

The family will receive friends on Thursday December 17, 2015 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Church at the Crossing, 9111 Haverstick Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46240 with the funeral service and interment immediately following.
