John F. Ellis, 91, passed away on February 25, 2021 in his home on the west side of Indianapolis. He was the husband of Jean C. Ellis; they shared 67 years of marriage together. John was born in Marquette, Michigan and spent a majority of his years in Indianapolis, Indiana. John was a former army sergeant and served in the Korean War. John loved to spend his free time at his local Lions Club and at his church. He is survived by spouse, Jean C. Ellis, daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Jeff), 7 grandchildren; Dee Chandler (Mike), Meg Dean (Jim), Mary D’Souza (Roland), Peter Cook (Emma), Hannah Leto (Charles), Emma Gorski (Tom), Brooke Wilson, and 9 great-grandchildren; Owen Chandler, Jon Summers, Jack Chandler, Thomas Dean, Carie Chandler, Benji Dean, Catherine D’Souza, Reese Cook, and Max Cook. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Luella Ellis, brother, Jim Ellis, sister, Ann Kehr, and children Jeff Ellis and Judy Cook. The celebration of life will be held on March 13th, 2021 at Bethel UMC 5252 W. 52nd Street, 46254 Indianapolis, IN. Calling from 11am – 1pm, with service immediately after. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Pike Lions Club, 7775 Melbourne Road, Indpls. 46268 or Bethel UMC.
