John F. Freeman

John F. "Tex" Freeman 84, Indianapolis, IN passed away on December 17, 2013. A life long resident of Indianapolis. He was born on August 16, 1929 to the late Everett and Elizabeth Freeman. John married Lois Halpin on December 24, 1949 and they were married for 59 years until her passing on January 22, 2009. John worked at the Indianapolis Stockyards from 1946 – 1992. John enjoyed watching basketball and football. He was a championship bowler. He enjoyed watching Tiger Woods and reading. John and his daughter Darlene would spend hours at the kitchen table working on the crossword puzzles. He liked to keep his yard looking immaculate. Survivors include: his 5 children, Steve (Ellen, wife preceded in death), Jack (Taryn), Gary, Darlene (John) Laycoax and Karen (Mike) Dempsey; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Tracy. A memorial visitation will be on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur 5463 Kentucky Ave. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Flanner and Buchanan.
