John G. Egger, 94 of Indianapolis, died March 30, 2011. He was born April 8, 1916 in Indianapolis, IN to the late John George and Hazel F. (Grinslade) Egger.
John was a graduate of Tech High School and served in the United States Army Air Forces during WWII as a reconnaissance photographer. He worked over 40 years at American Fletcher National Bank where he served as a Vice President and Trust Officer.
He was a long-time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and listening to Dixieland music.
John is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Ann L. (Chapman) Egger; son, Rev. Gerald (wife Rev. Marjorie) Egger; grandchildren, John G. (wife Lynn); Anacelie Verde-Claro, Ellen Egger, Brett Egger, and Brandon Egger; and former daughter-in-law, Cynthia (husband Steve) Peskoe. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, William Allen Egger and sister, Martha N. Egger.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 5 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, where friends are invited to gather from 10 am until the time of service. Inurnment with Military Honors will be at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church or WFYI Public Radio.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple.
