John Charles Gardner

John C. Gardner 64, passed away on November 26, 2014 in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters in Brownsburg, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Judith Gardner; and sister, Kathleen Armand. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan E. Gardner; daughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Hazelwood, Laura (Bill) Shepherd, Sara (Shawn) Smith; grandchildren, Ruth Shepherd, Jacob Hazelwood, Grace Shepherd, Courtney Hazelwood, Josephine Shepherd, Joseph Hazelwood, Madalyn Smith and Oliver Smith; brothers, Daniel Gardner, Scott (Rachelle) Gardner; cousins, Carol Swan, Michael (Janine) Swan; 4 nieces and 2 nephews; and many extended family members and friends. John retired from teaching in 2011. He taught PE/Health in IPS for 13 years. In retirement he drove a school bus for Avon Schools until earlier this year. He was an IUA Umpire for high school and college baseball for many years. He was an avid golfer and Colts fan. In recent years, he enjoyed playing poker in local poker leagues where he and Sue met many great friends.
