John C. Doll, Sr., 71 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on April 28, 2023.
John was born on April 29, 1951, in Phoenix, Arizona to the late James M. Doll and Gilda J. (Correll) Pruitt. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was a 1969 graduate of Northwest High School. As a student, he participated in football, wrestling, baseball, band, and pep band. From there, he began his career with Indiana Bell (Ameritech/AT&T) and retired in 2002 after 33 years of service.
John’s greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He loved camping, fishing, and boating with his family and friends. He was one of the best slalom water skiers and fondly remembered jumping from wake to wake in his cut off jean shorts. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers. John had a passion for all types of music and playing the guitar. He was a member of the SNPJ bowling league at Western Bowl and also a member of Slovenian National Home.
John will always be remembered for his deep pride and love for his children and grandchildren and his friendly, generous nature.
John was proceeded in death by his brother, James R. Doll, sister, Jerrie L. Winegard, and his parents.
John is survived by his children, Traci (Gregory) L. Arnold, Jessica (Chip) Bartels, and John (Tawni) C. Doll, Jr. and his 5 grandchildren, Aubrey Bartels, Kinsley Bartels, Rowan Bartels, Victor Doll, and Nicolai Doll.
Memorial service will be Friday, May 12, 2023, at 4 pm with visitation from 2 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. John will ultimately be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in the Garden of The Sermon on The Mount (45C) in Whitestown, Indiana.
