John M. Brown, 78, of Indianapolis, passed after January 13, 2011 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born July 23, 1932 in Indianapolis to Dr. Margaret Davis Brown and John “Jack’ Brown. His first wife Carol preceded him in death.
John served in the Army during the Korean War, serving as an apprentice pharmacist in Germany. He attended Butler University School of Pharmacy and was a member of Sigma Chi. He was a deacon and member of John Knox Presbyterian Church. He was a past commander of Carmel VFW and a member of Antelope Club. He loved to play poker, bridge and going to local casinos when able. He was a transporter for Guardian Angel Basset Rescue and loved his many rescued bassets, including “Misty” who survives.
His employment was mainly in the medical field as a pharmacy sale representative, where he met wife Barbara who survives. The last twelve years of his career was with the U.S. Postal Service, New August branch.
Other survivors include children; Jeff (Beth) Brown of Rhinelander, WS, Lisa (Robert) Meeks of Sandy, UT, stepson Pat Cavanaugh of Indpls and five grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, January 22, 2011 at noon with calling from 10 am till service time at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
