John Barb

John Raymond Barb, 83, of Zionsville, died March 23, 2012. John was born January 29, 1929 in Tipton, Indiana to Denver E. and Clarice N. Porter Barb; they preceded him in death. Mr. Barb was also preceded in death by his brother, David Barb, and his beloved wife, Janette Nelson Barb whom he wed September 18, 1953. John served his country in the Air National Guard from 1948 until his honorable discharge in June of 1954. He worked 20 years at Interstate Foundry. John will be remembered for enjoying the simple pleasures of life like gardening, tinkering in his garage, auto racing, but above all spending time with his family; he was a gentle soul. Mr. Barb is survived by his children, Michael J. Barb (Tracy), Gary R. Barb (Patty), Teresa Weaver (Rick), and Laura Wohlschlaeger (Rob). John is also survived by his grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Dana, Robbie, Elaine, Danny, and Cameron; and his brother, Denver E. Barb, Jr. Visitation will be at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville from 11 am to 2 pm with a service beginning at 2pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Burial with military honors will follow at Hutton Cemetery, rural Zionsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Boone County, PO Box 708, Lebanon, IN 46052.
