John August Andreko Dear Family and Friends, So many of you have expressed your condolences to our family for the death of our beloved Johnny. We thank you and appreciate your kind words of sympathy and support. We also want you to know that we have not yet placed an obituary in the Indianapolis Star or any other publication. Johnny's obituary, similar to the information below, will be published in the Star the week of his memorial service to be held Saturday, June 16, 2012. We will add additional information and photos to this site very soon. Our love, Judy Andreko Hurdle, Clarisse Andreko Hawley, and Families John August Andreko, 60, of Indianapolis, passed away May 24, 2012. Johnny attended Purdue University and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in music, combining his gifts for music and technology. His love and expansive knowledge of musical instruments, cars, and motorcycles began in early childhood and continued throughout his adult life. Johnny was employed by Marion County Building Authority as an electrician, but found great enjoyment composing and performing music. More recently, Johnny was a guitarist for his church's praise band and a trombonist with the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Clown Band, performing for Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacer games and at fairs and venues throughout the United States and China. Johnny is survived by his mother, Ethel Andreko; sisters, Judy Hurdle and Clarisse Hawley; brother-in-law Dean Hawley; and many nieces and nephews in whom he took great pride. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Billie Andreko. Johnny's family wishes to thank the staff and physicians of Franciscan St. Francis Health ICU for their compassionate care and support of Johnny. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 11 am at Garfield Park United Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 10am-11am. You are invited to visit www.flannerbuchanan.com to share condolences. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garfield Park United Church of Christ, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or your favorite charity in honor of Johnny. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
