John Ashton

John B. Ashton 80 of Indianapolis, IN passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 17, 2014. He was born September 9, 1933 in Zagreb, Croatia to the late Horace D. and Gordana (Dimovic) Ashton who preceded him in death. John worked as a Detective for the Marion County Sherriff's Department from 1962-1985. After his retirement from the Sherriff's Department, he worked for American Trans Air as the Director of Security. He belonged to the Marion County Retired Officers Association, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by his children, Lee (Peggy) Ashton, John B. (Debbie) Ashton III; their mother, Janatha Robey Ashton; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his brothers, Marc "Butch" Ashton of Boca Raton, FL and Stewart Todd Ashton of Palm Springs, CA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11 AM in Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township, with visitation there from 10 AM-11 AM prior to the service. John will be laid to rest in the St. Paul's Church Cemetery in King George, Virginia at a later date. Memorial gifts may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police.
