John Brent “Brent” Andrews passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family and his loving wife, Liz.
Brent was born on August 18, 1946, in Huntington, Indiana, to Elizabeth Emily Andrews (Ervin) and Walter Andrews. He spent his early years in Huntington playing baseball and working on a chicken farm. Many of his childhood friends knew him as “Andy” Andrews, a nickname he earned on the baseball diamond.
Brent graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1964 and remained closely connected with his classmates, gathering with the Class of ’64 every fall since graduation. He attended Huntington College for two years before transferring to Butler University, where he was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He graduated with a degree in elementary education. Brent spent more than 20 years teaching grades 3-6 at Crooked Creek Elementary School in Washington Township which he had in common with his wife Liz who taught at Spring Mill Elementary School for her entire teaching career. He went on to begin a second career as a realtor with F.C. Tucker from which he retired.
Brent loved many things in life—especially golf, the beaches of Michigan, and a strong old-fashioned—but nothing meant more to him than his family. He is survived by his wife, Liz; his sister, Marilyn Sue Anderson (Richard Anderson); his son, J.B. Andrews (Liz Kennedy) and their son, Booker (3); his daughter, Carrie Reiberg (Daria Weingartner) and their children, Lucas (19), Leo (16), and Eddie (6); his stepson, Matthew Hughes and his children, Jace (24) and Aiden (21); his stepdaughter, Kelly Balla (Chris Balla) and her children, Katie (21) and Lauren (19); and his stepdaughter, Erin. His children have pledged to play a round of golf and drink an old-fashioned for Brent, and they hope you will do the same.
