Johanna Marshall
86 of Indianapolis died on October 21, 2013. Johanna was born on March 05, 1927 in Washington, IN to Clinton and Madge (Abbott) Gibson. Johanna lived with her grandmother, Anna Abbott in Washington IN during the Great Depression for a time when her father was laid off from the B&O Railroad and he and her mother worked at a hotel in the kitchen in St. Louis. Johanna graduated in 1945 class of Washington High School in Washington, IN.
She went to work as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. After the war she returned to Indiana and met Marvin Heller in North Vernon, IN. They married on Johanna's 21st birthday. Johanna worked outside the home again after her children were older and worked, among other places, as a secretary for the Southport Baptist Church and Lincoln Elementary School and at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. She was active in the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years, organizing fundraising activities and making dolls to sell for the hospital.
Johanna was preceded in death by her husband's Marvin Heller in 1983 and later Cecil Marshall and her daughter Linda Heller Deveau in 1997. Funeral services for Johanna will be held on Monday November 04, 2013 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery Chapel 1977 South S.R. 135 Greenwood, IN 46143 with calling one hour prior to the service. Johanna is survived by her son and daughter in law Mark (Kathy Berry) Heller of Toledo, OH and her son in law Frank (Diane) Deveau of Indianapolis and her grandchildren Jennifer (Geoff) Fitchett, Erin (Sean) Saunders and Shannon Berry-Heller Aimee Deveau, Katie Deveau, Eddie Deveau, Marie Claire Deveau and Madeline Deveau and her great grandchildren Elly Dickenson and Anna Dickenson and Sebastian A.K.A. Bashy Deveau.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
