In Loving Memory of Joel “Hippie Joe” Adams

Joel Adams, affectionately known to so many as “Hippie Joe,” passed away on August 5, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Dorothy Adams.

Joel is survived by his sister, Lee; his son, Joel C. Adams and his wife, Jennifer; and his three cherished grandchildren, Emma, Colton, and Lucas.

To those who knew him, he wasn’t simply Joel—he was Hippie Joe. It was a name that followed him through life and became a part of who he was. He had a personality that people remembered, and it seemed like everywhere he went, somebody knew Joe.

Joel was a hardworking man who spent much of his life behind the wheel. He began his career as a truck driver, traveling countless miles and experiencing life from the open road. Later, he became a taxicab driver, continuing to work hard and meet people from all walks of life.

During his years as a truck driver, Joel had a faithful companion by his side—his cat, Tippy. Tippy wasn’t just a pet; he was Joe’s little traveling companion and a special part of his life. Wherever the road took them, they went together.

Joel also proudly served his country in Vietnam. His service was an important part of his life and will always be remembered and honored.

Joel lived life to the fullest and did things his own way. He was a hardworking, unforgettable character who touched many lives. Whether you knew him as Joel, as Hippie Joe, as a truck driver, a taxi driver, a Vietnam veteran, or simply as a friend, chances are you have a story about him.

Joel’s passing was unexpected, and he was found on August 5th. While his final moments were difficult and not what anyone would have wished for him, they do not define the life he lived.

He leaves behind his family, his memories, his stories, and a whole lot of people who will miss seeing Hippie Joe come rolling around.

He lived his life his way, traveled his roads, made his memories, and left his mark.

Hippie Joe will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.
