Joanne Wenzel

Joanne Wenzel 85, of Indianapolis, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away November 7, 2014. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 23, 1929 to the late Fred and Edna Bueschen. She met her husband Richard as a young girl at church. Joanne received an undergraduate degree in education at Toledo University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a Master's in education from Butler University. She taught for nearly 25 years in the Indianapolis Public Schools system at School 27 and 102. Her passions outside of her family and teaching included; being den mother of pack 288 at First Trinity Lutheran Church, being a member of the 44th St. Bridge Club supporting all area sports teams and going to the family condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Joanne attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert and John Bueschen. She survived by her loving husband of 64 years Richard; sons, Rick (Mary) Wenzel and David (Sheri) Wenzel. Seven grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Wenzel, Meredith (Matt) Miller, Macey (Tom) Judd, Erica (Nathan) Branam, Bart (Alisha) Wenzel, Jonathon Wenzel, Carlyanne Wenzel and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 3pm-7pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indpls, IN 46239. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or Season's Hospice.
