JoAnn Phillips

JoAnn Zook Phillips, 97, passed peacefully away April 17th, 2026, and is now in the loving embrace of her Lord.

She was born March 17th, 1929, in Indianapolis to parents Orville and Dora Lee Zook.

JoAnn grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Tech high school.

She married the love of her life Lawrence “Dave” Phillips. They shared over 50 wonderful years together. Dave passed away in September 2000.

She worked for Warren Township Schools and later at Farm Bureau Insurance until she retired.

JoAnn was a vibrant, loving woman. She had a strong Christian faith throughout her life and was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church for several years. JoAnn enjoyed reading and was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her son Randy D. (Penny) Phillips; three grandchildren Peter (Mary) Phillips, Molly (Harrison) Tropp, and Sally (Mark) Dunbar; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her four siblings.

The family extends special thanks to Sunrise Senior Living and Paradigm Health for their loving care for JoAnn, during her last season of life.

She will be laid to rest privately at Washinton Park East Cemetery.
