Joan Renee Mccoy

Joan Renee (Martin) McCoy, passed away on her 70th birthday, May 15, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Joan was born on May 15th, 1953, in Tipton, IN to parents James J Martin and Marilyn Louise (Martin) Morelock, who preceded her in death.
Joan graduated from John Marshall High School in 1971 and married Charles McCoy in September 1976. She was blessed with two daughters, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Joan lived life to the fullest. She loved her family, enjoyed traveling and held tightly to her lifelong friends. She was known to be the life of the party, cared deeply for everyone, and enjoyed the outdoors. Joan was a member of the Lawrence Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years. She enjoyed several jobs that used her administrative skills. Joan was passionate about hosting gatherings and cooking. She loved playing all types of card games and was active in a euchre club. Chuck and Joan were members of Church at the Crossing for 14 years and was on staff for 5 years.
Joan will be missed by many family and friends including her husband of 46 years, Chuck B. McCoy; brother Steve Martin (Wanda); sister Annette VanVelse (Rene); brother in-law James McCoy (Becky); daughters Julia Timmons (Michael) and Joyce Helfers (Paul Jr). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Lizzan Olive, Cheyenne Asmus (Mark), Sierra Helfers, Mason, Jenna and Charlie Timmons and 1 Great Grandchild; Myra Asmus. She also leaves behind multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
Joan McCoy celebration of life will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, 46250 on May 20, 2023. Visitation for family and friends will be 10am to 1pm. Funeral services will start at 1pm followed by the gravesite ceremony.
