Joan Ober Thomas
89, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016. Joan (Jody) was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Shortridge High School and attended Miami University where she studied piano. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and a lifelong member of Meridian Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, son James, and great-granddaughter Gracie Thomas. She is survived by her children, Carol (Don) Snider, Howard (Cheryl) Thomas, II, Cora Sue Grossman (Thad Tucker) and William Thomas; daughter-in-law, Ingrida Thomas; sister, Mary Ann (Derek) Wallace; grandchildren, Marc (Ellen Chow), Mickey (Beth) and Matthew Snider, Robin (Shawn) Adams, Kari Thomas (Andy Fallat), Andrew (Mindy) Thomas, Christy (Jamie) Aloisio, Adam (Kyla) Thomas, Nate (Arielle Gibson), Troy and Kendra Grossman, Stephen and Andy Tucker and Emilie Thomas; great-grandchildren, Henri, Olivia, Russell and Elizabeth Joan Snider, Emily and Zoe Adams, Sybil Fallat, Carter and James Thomas, Mason, Owen and Miles Aloisio, Collin and Ryleigh Thomas, Cooper and Isaac Grossman. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. Services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the funeral center. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Olympic Shooting Team or the American Heart Association.
