Joan Lavon (Jones) Meneely, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 83.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives at Flanner and Buchanan, Washington Park North Funeral Center, 2706 Kessler Blvd. West Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46228 on October 3, 2016 from 11:00-1:00 with funeral service and burial immediately following.
Joan was born in Terre Haute, IN to Merlin and Beatrice (Fern) Jones on April 20, 1933. After graduating from Wiley High School in 1951, Joan married the love of her life, H. Everett Meneely in a military wedding on March 28, 1953 at Fort Riley, Kansas. Married just two months short of fifty years, Joan and Everett, raised their children, moved from Indiana to Robinson, IL and eventually back to the Carmel/Indianapolis area. Once her children were grown, Joan worked as a housekeeper for Carmel Care Health Center for a number of years. For the last thirteen years she was able to live with her son's family. Over the years she had faithfully cared for her friends and family through her cooking, baking, cake decorating, ceramics and floral arrangements. Joan was a talented artist whose paintings inspired others. She best loved dancing and roller skating with Everett and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, H. Everett Meneely, her parents, her brother, Paul Jones and stepbrother, Ed Jones.
Joan is survived by her son, Steven (Debra) Meneely, daughter, Jerri Pettijohn, stepson, Ken (Debbie) Fries, a sister, Wilma (Jack) Parr, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
