Joan Cappas Kalias, 73, of Carmel Indiana, died on February 2, 2012 after a long illness. Joan was born in Krokee, Laconia, Greece, on September 21, 1937 to John and Stella (Christofilikis) Cappas. Joan was a very loving and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to her family and her church. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and The Ladies Philioptochos and was a tireless volunteer. She was also a volunteer for St. Vincent's Carmel Hospital and a business owner of 101 West Ohio News. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Louis Kalias. She is survived by her devoted daughters and son-in-laws, Karen and Matthew Albean; Stella and Desi Zondervan and her beloved granddaughters, Zoe and Elena Albean; Sophia and Lydia Katsaropoulos, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Phyllis Atsaves, Peter Cappas, Louis Cappas and Nicki Malevitis and 11 nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Sunrise on Old Meridian for the compassionate care they gave to Joan. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 3500 West 106th Street Carmel, IN at 11:00 AM with calling starting at 9:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be given to the church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery Fishers, IN.
