Joan Fay Matherly Bick Mercer, 70, passed away on March 20, 2012. She was born May 5, 1941 in Franklin, Kentucky. Mrs. Mercer had worked for the Marion County Clerk, the Indiana State Department of Insurance, the Ford Motor Company English Avenue plant, and Dennison Parking Company. Mrs. Mercer was a member of the New Palestine United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years David Mercer, brothers Rick (Lora) Woodward and Albert Carey Woodward Jr., stepsister Mary Nan Pendleton, sons Jeff (Jennie) Bick and John (Suzy) Bick. She is also survived by her stepchildren Butch (Marie) Mercer, Timothy Mercer, Penny Price, Sara (Phil) Holden, and Kathy Webster. Surviving grandchildren include Jeffrey C. Bick, Amy Saxon, Christopher Saxon, Amanda Mercer, Chasity Mercer, Joshua Mercer, Sara (Spencer) Stohler, Casey (Seth) Van Horn, Kiely Holden, Kristin Holden, Phillip Holden and Chris Webster. Her surviving great-grandchildren include Maria Lynne Bick, Kyla Mercer, Tyler Mercer, Braxton Mercer, Brayton Mercer, Mary Jewell Stohler, Addison Stohler, Layla Stohler, Greyson Stohler, McKenzie Van Horn, McKenna Van Horn, Olivia Webster, and Max Webster. Mrs. Mercer is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and long-time best friend Mary Frances Beinburg. She was preceded in death by brothers Ronnie Dale Woodward and Jerry Wayne Woodward.
Calling will be at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, on Friday, March 23 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 PM with calling one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
