Joan Ellen Bubna

Joan Ellen Bubna, 76 of Carmel, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021.  Joan was born May 29, 1945 in Cleveland, OH to the late Carl and Ruth Ellen Eichenberger.  She was a 1967 graduate of Bowling Green State University where she met her husband of 54 years, Ken, on a blind date setup by mutual friends.

For most of her career, Joan was a passionate educator of young children. Her first teaching position was as a 2^nd grade teacher in Chagrin Falls, OH.  Later she was a teacher and then principal for over 20 years at Tabernacle Christian Academy in Indianapolis. She ultimately retired from Diagnostic Medicine of Carmel, where she worked in administration.

Along with friends and family, Joan filled her life with service to God as an active member of Carmel Christian Church for over 35 years where she served as an elder. Joan’s faith and quiet strength made her a compassionate, kind and supportive force in the lives of all that knew her. She adored meeting new people and was an amazing and non-judgemental listener. She showed her love in every one of her actions. “…let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (I John 3:18).

Joan’s life was defined by her role as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Ken; daughters, Amy Daglish (partner, Trent Johnson), Kimberly Talac (husband, Gary) and Meghan Trahant (husband, Tyler); grandchildren, Drew, Riley, Reese and Ella; brother, Robert Eichenberger (wife, Coletta).

Family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday, October 8 for visitation at Carmel Christian Church. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 9 in the same location.
