Joan Elizabeth Bowman

Joan E. Bowman, 81, of Indianapolis, died February 25, 2014. She retired from American States Insurance in 1997, after 24 years of service. Joan was a Charter Member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church; she was very active in her membership by helping with the newsletter and church mailings. Joan also served her church by joining the CRHP team, Women's Club, Bereavement Team and Prayers for America. Joan is survived by her children, Michael A. Bowman (Pamela), Patrick E. Bowman, Anita E. (Bowman) Walton (Garry), Christopher A. Bowman, Andrea L. Bowman; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Phyllis Starner and brother, Albert Starner. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Shirley (Stollar) Starner; her loving husband of 41 years, David E. Bowman; and infant daughter, Patricia Bowman. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan- Speedway from 3 -8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 10am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church with burial immediately following in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
