Jo Ann Raftery

Jo Ann Stufflebem Raftery, 91, passed peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, in Noblesville, IN. 

Jo Ann was born on September 18th, 1934 to Glenn and Ruth Stufflebem, and was a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area. She graduated from Warren Central High school and attended Hanover College. She met her husband, Michael Raftery, while working at Naval Avionics, and they married in 1955 and began their 56-year marriage. They raised four children together and helped them pursue their education at Indiana University. She was a dedicated employee for Naval Avionics for several years, along with working at Dr. Morses office as his medical transcriber.

Jo loved to be cooking & baking and was always up for a match of scrabble or euchre! She loved to read anything she could get her hands on, and could write in shorthand, and type 100 words a minute on her typewriter. She loved listening to Frank Sinatra and Big Band music. She enjoyed cheering on the Hoosiers and loved to spend quality time with her family & friends. She will be remembered as a strong, loving woman who prioritized her family above anything else, and will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Raftery, son Patrick Raftery, daughter in laws Vicki & Tawny Raftery. 

She is survived by Michael Raftery, son, Scott Raftery, son, and Kathleen Raftery, daughter, and Grandchildren Kerry (Kyle) Nelson, Conor (Mollie) Raftery, Caitlin Raftery, Michael Raftery, Brian Raftery, and great grandson Ronan Raftery. 

The family would like to thank Paradigm Health Hospice Team for taking such good care of her in her final year. The Raftery family will hold a private Celebration of Life for immediate family at a later date.
