Jimmy D. Butler

Jimmy D. Butler, 69, of Fortville, Indiana, passed away on June 15, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1955, in Hamilton, Ohio, to parents, Robert and Shirley (Newman) Butler. 

Jim graduated from Warren Central High School in 1973. He began working for his father's dump trucking company when he was 16 years old. He quickly proved himself taking on engine rebuilds and other extensive repairs in his father's shop. He would eventually rise to the level of shop manager until Bob retired in 1995.

In 1996, Jim started his own trucking company where his hard work and commitment were evident to all who knew him. He was a gifted individual in this field, possessing the remarkable ability to mend any vehicle using whatever tools were available to him. He had a singularly unique “MacGyveresque" gift for problem solving that made him indispensable to all who knew him. People would often say after consulting with Jim on some problem, “why didn't I think of that?" He was also a visionary businesses leader, often spotting new opportunities and working to grow his business into new areas long before others were convinced.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Louise Butler; daughter, Melissa Butler and husband, Matt Dotlich; and his granddaughters Madison Dotlich and Michelle Dotlich

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Shirley.

Visitation for Jim will be from 4-8pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park - Prairie Waters (4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN 46074). A funeral service will follow the next day at 2pm, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park – Prairie Waters. Burial will take place at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery following the conclusion of his service. 

As a special request from the family, we ask all guests that have a picture of Jim through the years to bring a copy of it to his services to give to his family to remember him.
