Jim Vester

SFC. Jim Vester 32, Lizton, passed away December 4, 2013. He was born August 25, 1981, in Muncie, the son of Walter and Janice (Bir) Vester. He married Jamie (Green) Vester, June 11, 2005, in Kokomo. He and Jamie welcomed their son Gavin Lee Vester, October 1, 2012. Jim graduated from Yorktown High School in 2000, there he was active on the varsity wrestling and soccer teams. He was a mechanic in the United States National Guard, serving a tour in Iraq 2005-2006. He was also a proud member of the Ceremonial Unit. He attended Cornerstone Christian Church. He enjoyed cooking, motorcycles, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He is survived by his parents, Walter and Janice Vester, Yorktown; wife, Jamie Vester, Lizton; son, Gavin; brother, Nathan(Ashley) Vester, Terre Haute; sister, Megan (John) Seyler, Warsaw; grandmother, Alice Bir, Alexandria; mother-in-law, Shelley (John) Wieske, Greentown; father-in-law, Jim (Malissa) Green, Kokomo; sister-in-law, Jana Green, Kokomo; step sisters-in-law, Mariah Ormsby-Wieske, Kokomo, Alicia Cecil, Kokomo, Heather Cecil, Kokomo; step brother-in-law, Derick Cecil, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Wendal. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Jenny Thomas, and grandparents, Kenneth Bir, Walter Vester Sr., and Suzzanne Vester Bishop. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, Cornerstone Christian Church, 8930 North State Road 267, Brownsburg. Burial with military honors will follow at Brownsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the church.
