Jewell L. Smith

Jewell L. Smith, 72, of Beech Grove, IN, passed away March 17, 2020 in the comfort of her home. She was born on July 8, 1947 to the late Frank and Fannie Rice in Scuddy, KY.

Jewell was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. She previously owned and operated her own beauty salon; Unique Hair and Tanning in Beech Grove.

Jewell is survived by her three children, James “Mick” Skirvin (Beth), Rick Skirvin (Eva) and Erika Jones (Daryl “DJ”) Grandchildren: Charles Skirvin, Matthew Skirvin, Christopher Skirvin, Aeriel Skirvin, Rickey Skirvin, Alex Holsclaw, Courtney Jones, Nick Ward, Jordan Sloan, Jackson Butler and Jacob Butler. Great grandchildren: Kaylee Skirvin, Abigail Skirvin and Michael Skirvin. Sisters: Nadine Roark, Karen Rice Whalen. Brothers: Ronnie Rice, Wade Rice, and Bernard “Ray” Rice.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Smith, her parents Frank and Fannie Rice, five brothers and one sister.
