Jewell E. Hatton, beloved mother, sister, and aunt, peacefully departed this life on December 9, 2024, at the age of 77 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 23, 1947, in New Castle, Indiana, Jewell touched the hearts of everyone she met with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith.
A proud member of the Southport Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years, Jewell dedicated herself to her church community. Her role as a greeter at Walmart-Beech Grove for six years was a natural extension of her loving spirit, where she always made time for a heartfelt handshake and shared uplifting words with every person she encountered. She was known for her unforgettable greetings and her genuine love for spreading joy and encouragement, often reminding others that "Jesus never fails."
Jewell's educational journey led her to Fayette Central High School, from which she graduated in 1965. This foundation paved the way for a lifetime filled with meaningful connections and achievements. Jewell took great pride in nurturing relationships, often going above and beyond to uplift those around her.
She is survived by her cherished son, Aaron Hatton; her dear brother, Donald Stiver; her niece, Michelle Stiver (Kirschner-Weintraut); as well as numerous nephews and cousins who will carry her memory forward in their hearts. Jewell's family and friends find solace in knowing that her love and encouragement will continue to resonate within them.
Jewell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Hatton; her devoted parents, Milo Stiver and Genevieve Stiver; and all those whose lives she touched will remember her spirit forever.
The visitation and funeral service to honor Jewell E. Hatton will take place on December 19, 2024, at Southport Church of the Nazarene located at 920 East Southport Road, Indianapolis, IN. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Graveside service at Washington Park East Cemetery following the funeral.
Jewell's legacy of love, faith, and community will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Her warmth will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the memories of all she embraced with her gentle heart.
