Jewel P. Phelps

Jewel P. Phelps, 83 of Indianapolis was born October 19, 1931 and died on January 24, 2015. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky to Pearl and Barbara Phelps who precede him in death. He was employed at Electric Steel Casting Co. as a Core Maker for 42 years before retiring. He served in the US Army in Korea. He enjoyed being a member of River of Life Church of God and spending time with his family. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Thelma, as well as nine brothers and sisters. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Donald Phelps, Gloria Logan, Wanda Logan, Ola Wilkerson, Timothy Phelps, Delores Baumann, Ronald Phelps, Gerald Phelps, Joyce Combs and Milton Phelps, two sisters, Anna Hail and Retha Baker, 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 - 8 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and from 12:00 until service time at 2 PM Thursday at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association or River of Life Church.
