Jerry Max Cokain, 82, of Mooresville Indiana, entered peacefully into his Heavenly Home on September 26, 2021, with family by his side.
Jerry was born in Logansport, Indiana on February 4, 1939, to George Edward Cokain and Sarah Florence (Pottmeyer) Cokain. He spent his early years in Crown Point, Indiana, then moved to California. The family returned to Indiana when he was in the 7th grade.
He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1957. He was president of his senior class, and a three-sport athlete, holding the pole vault record for 12 years. After graduation, he attended Purdue University.
Jerry owned and operated Hoosier Aircraft Accessories, Inc. at Indianapolis International Airport for nearly 40 years.
Preceding him in death are sisters, Virginia Jarrett, Carol Larson, and Marilyn Southland; stepdaughter Debra Foster Heidenreich and stepson Brad Foster.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Patricia (Figg-Foster) Cokain, son Jeffrey Cokain (Therese), daughters Julia Walden and Jennifer Lents (Michael), 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Jerry enjoyed a full life. His passion for all things aviation were derived from observing his father’s flying exploits, as well as living and working on airports as a young man. Aviation became his life’s work, which led to his obtaining a private pilot’s license. Other interests included working on race cars, competing in adult go-cart races, fishing, scuba diving, snow skiing, and boating.
Jerry’s greatest passion, which he lovingly shared, has been his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bible Study and Christian fellowship have been a dominant force in his life, following the great example of his beloved mother.
Jerry has been a long-time member of Mt. Gilead Christian Church. Prior to that, he attended Traders Point Christian Church. His prayer was always that his life would serve to glorify our Heavenly Father and lead others to salvation and eternal life through Jesus. John 3:16.
Funeral service will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 at noon with visitation from 11 am at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township. Burial will follow at Fairfield Friends Cemetery, Camby, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Christian Church, mgchurch.org
