Jerry Kent Carter,
71, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, March 19,2016. He was born on February 6, 1945 inLouisville, KY to the late Joe Duris and Martha Jane (Greene) Carter. Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Salem HighSchool and earned his Masters from Indiana State University in 1968. He worked as a teacher for North Central HighSchool until 1980, when he went to work as a Salesman for Copco. Paper. Jerry worked at Copco. Paper until 1996 whenhe left to teach printing classes for Ben Davis High School. He retired from teaching in 2006. Jerry was a longtime member of John KnoxPresbyterian Church and was a member of PRINTING CLUB. He enjoyed golfing and watching car races,and loved spending time with friends and family. Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years,Mary (McGinnis) Carter; son, Andrew Carter; mother-in-law, Alice McGinnis;brother-in-law, Bill McGinnis. Acelebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2pm inJohn Knox Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service, also at thechurch. In lieu of flowers, memorialcontributions may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or the WashingtonCo. Community Foundation.
