Jerry K. Carter

Jerry K. Carter, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday March 19, 2016. He was born on February 6, 1945 in Louisville, KY to the late Joe Duris Carter and Martha Jane (Greene) Carter. Jerry graduated from Salem High School in 1963 and earned his Masters of Science Degree from Indiana State University in 1968. He taught Vocational Education at North Central High School for 12 years. In 1980 he went to work for Unisource in the paper sales division. In 1996 he went back to teaching printing at Ben Davis and retired in 2006. Jerry was a long time member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and a member of The Indianapolis Club of Printing House Craftsmen. He loved golf, cars, racing and spending time with friends and family. Jerry is survived by wife of 50 years, Mary (McGinnis) Carter and son, Andrew Carter; mother-in-law, Alice McGinnis; brother-in-law, Bill McGinnis. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or Washington County Community Foundation.
