Jerry G. Graff, 75 of Indianapolis, passed away on January 12, 2013. Jerry was born April 22, 1937 in Kokomo, IN to Leroy H. and Margaret V. Graff.
Jerry attended Indiana University where he was a member of Sigma Delta Chi, professional journalism fraternity. He was a newspaper reporter for 35 years. In 1983 Jerry received The Pulitzer Prize in journalism for his exceptional coverage of the 1982 flood of Ft. Wayne, IN. He was passionate about running, Jerry participated in and received numerous metals and trophies for finishing in top 3 of his age group in several race events. Other passions of Jerry's included attending the Indianapolis 500 mile race and the Brickyard 400, watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts, as well as working out with weight machines and completing Sudodu puzzles.
He is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Jennifer L. Taylor of Denver, Colorado; son Jason R. Graff of Greenwood, Indiana; brothers William M. Graff of Kokomo, Indiana and Charles A. Graff of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter Megan E. Graff of Greenwood, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-sister Suella Dresch.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be 2:00 Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Good Shepherd Chapel at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis In 46205 with calling 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Donor Services: P.O.
