Jerry Douglas Lachat, DDS,MSD of Tampa, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2012. He was born in Buffalo NY and grew up in Dayton, Ohio. He earned his DDS degree at The Ohio State Dental School in 1974 and attained his post Doctorate Degree at Indiana University Dental School in 1980. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years, from which he retired as Lt. Colonel. He was a passionate world traveler, enjoyed photography, and was an avid fisherman. As a young adult, he was an accomplished racquetball player and enjoyed scuba diving. He was a dedicated IU basketball, Ohio State football, and TampaBay Lightning fan. Jerry has practiced dentistry after leaving the military in Riverview for 23 years providing excellent care to his patients.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Paula (Archer) Lachat; his stepson Richard Todd Morrow, Jr; his adored granddaughter Allison Morrow; sister Nancy Dettloff, brother Leon Lachat and numerous close extended family members .He was preceded in death by his step-son, Ryan Morrow. Jerry is also survived by his precious 5 cats, who he treated like gold.
A memorial service will be held on Sat June 9th, 1pm, at Flanner and Buchanan-10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. In lieu of flowers a fund has been established for his cherished granddaughter, Allison to which the family would greatly appreciate contributions in Jerry's honor. The trust contributions will be accepted by both Bank of America and Regions Bank, in the name of Jerry Lachat Memorial Trust. Words of comfort may be expressed at flannerbuchanan.com
