Jerry Deason Garrett

Jerry Deason Garrett, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away May 31, 2021.  He was born November 17, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana to Harvey William and Mary Wilgus (Luxon) Garrett.

Mr. Garrett graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Butler University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.  He also attended Rose Polytechnic (now Rose Hulman).  Mr. Garrett retired in 1994 from the Federal Government as a property administrator after 30 years of service.  He later worked part time for his nephew’s printing company, Maco Press.  He was a proud Army veteran.

Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane Granger Garrett; sons, James Deason (Erin) and Ronald Ray (Shamrock) Garrett; stepsons: Richard W. (Leslie), David C. (Renelle), William F., Steven F. (Victoria), Thomas S. (Susan), and James R. (Debra) Dyar; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mary Garrett, and his sister, Tomeen Luxon Garrett Seidensticker.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220, with calling hours from 10:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m until service time.  Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the donor’s favorite charity.
