Jerry Darrel Young

Jerry Darrel Young, born on December 6, 1945, entered into Heaven on December 8, 2015. He was born in Highland, KY to Vernon Chief Young and Gladys Marie Young. Jerry leaves behind his 5 children, Angie Young, Jenny Gutenson, Jerry Darrel Young II, Kiley Young and Taylor Young; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by his wife of 32 years, Lori Young. Darrel also leaves behind his 9 siblings, Yvonne Greer, Betty Ferguson, Nancy Rollins, Larry Young, Vicky Smith, Kathy Estes, Greg Young, Michelle Hill and Jeff Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon Buck Young; and sister, Sylvia Stone. Darrel was first and foremost a singer and musician, and was very grateful for the being able to work with some of the best musicians and country artists to ever grace any stage. He retired from the Marion County Sheriffs Dept. in 2008 after 19 years of service. Before moving back to Indianapolis, Darrel, or as most co-workers called him Jerry worked for the Kentucky Dept. of Corrections for 6 years, leaving that job with the rank of Lieutenant. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2-6pm at Flanner and Buchanan Speedway. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11am, also in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in West Ridge Park Cemetery. Darrel would like to ask everyone to praise God and to accept what He did for all of us on the Cross at Calvary.
