Jeremy Wayne Phillips

September 18, 1974 — April 19, 2026

Greenfield, IN

Jeremy Wayne Phillips entered this world September 18, 1974, at 10:44 p.m. at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. He entered eternity April 19, 2026, at 2:25 a.m., also at Methodist Hospital. He leaves to mourn him his parents, Freida and Michael Phillips, sons Kristofer and Jackson, girlfriend Amy Wagoner and his most loyal and loving dog, Xena. He also leaves Aunt Brenda (Bill), Aunt Tracie, cousins Angelique, Joshua, Christopher, Nathaniel, Jason, Rachel, Darcy, Chad, and Celia (Cevyn), grandmother Wanda. Those who welcomed him to his eternal home are his infant daughter, Kaylee Jade, beloved grandparents Geneva & Bob, Laverne & Dorothy, and Richard, cousin April, Uncle Rodney, aunts Faith and Debbie.

Jeremy experienced lifelong health issues beginning at age 8, when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. At age 38 he received a kidney/pancreas transplant that cured his kidney disease and also his diabetes. Praise God! No more diabetes after 30 years was life changing. We celebrated his transplant day as his Second Birthday each year and gave thanks to God and his donor. At age 41 he experienced a heart attack that also revealed a defective heart valve that required a second life-saving open heart surgery just a few months later. Another God-only miracle. Jeremy lived a post-transplant life for almost 14 years and was thankful that he lived long enough to see Jackson reach adulthood. All the medications and heart issues took a heavy toll. The pain he endured throughout his life and especially the last two years only he knows. But he did not allow any of this to keep him from doing the things he enjoyed so much. He loved cooking, working in his yard and home improvements, especially woodworking projects. He enjoyed online gaming and rooting for the Notre Dame football team: a special event was attending a home game at Notre Dame with Amy.

Before illness required him to quit working, he was a CNA/QMA in nursing homes. He chose this career after twins Jackson and Kaylee were born so that he could be a part of Jackson’s on-going care and was consistently involved except for times when overwhelming illness intervened. Surprisingly Jeremy enjoyed taking care of people: he loved his nursing home residents and they loved him.

On a personal level, Jeremy exuded a gruff exterior and found it hard to express his love, but he did love deeply: his sons, his family, Amy and his dog. Even without the words, we knew he loved us and we loved him. He left us way too soon and we didn’t want to let him go. Knowing he is with loved ones and without pain is our comfort. He was so very thankful for the gift of life he was given through transplant and was a donor upon his passing.
