Jeffrey Michael Thrasher, age 55, passed away on May 21, 2025. Jeff was born on September 1, 1969, in Indianapolis, IN at Community Hospital East. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Judy; his brother, Mark; his children, Natalie, Andrew and Catherine; his nephew, Jake; his former wife, Beth; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jeff attended Holy Spirit Catholic School and graduated from Scecina Memorial High School in 1987. He created countless childhood memories during his adventures with Mark and their friends while exploring the East Side. Jeff graduated from Purdue University with an Industrial Engineering degree and was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He started his career at Naval Air Warfare Center and then worked at Eli Lilly for the past 25 years in a variety of roles specializing in Supply Chain Management.
Jeff and Beth (Serban) were married on April 20, 1996, after which they had 3 children who were his biggest joys in life. The family were members of Christ the King Catholic Church where he was a part of many activities, functions and celebrations. When the kids were little, Jeff spent many early mornings hanging out with the early birds, listening to music, playing games, and soaking up every moment. As they got older, Jeff would engage the kids in activities around the house such as raking leaves where he would build huge leaf piles for them to jump and play in. Little League was his passion, coaching the kids for over 13 years at Haverford. He was remembered for his gentle coaching approach and competitive spirit. He also coached the kids in basketball at Christ the King.
Jeff loved sports… especially Purdue basketball, Purdue football, Colts, Pacers and the Atlanta Braves. In High School he played baseball and tennis and continued to play all through his adult life. He was a member of the Indianapolis Men’s Baseball League (Athletics) and played tennis at the Rivi and IRC. Other hobbies included music, biking and yard work. In more recent years, after moving downtown, Jeff enjoyed exploring restaurants, bars, riding scooters and live music.
Jeff will always be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering love of family and friends. After a long and courageous battle with depression and addictions, Jeff died by suicide. This does not define Jeff as a person, and we hope that others will be inspired by the amazing man, son, father and friend that he was.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (7243 East 10th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219). Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Donations in Jeff’s memory may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) 199 Water Street, 11th Floor; New York, NY 10038.
