Jeffrey Allen Smock, age 56 of New Palestine, IN, passed away on Monday morning, April 7, 2025.
Jeff was born on March 19, 1969, in Indianapolis, IN, a son of Danny Smock and Kathy (Back) Rea.
Jeff grew up on the Eastside of Indianapolis in the Irvington area. He graduated from Howe High School, Class of 1987. After high school, he attended Vincennes University and earned an associate’s degree, followed by a bachelor’s degree in political science from IUPUI.
While attending Vincennes University, Jeff met the love of his life, Mindy Alexander. The couple married on June 11, 1994, in Indianapolis, IN. Jeff and Mindy have three children: son Noah Smock of Muncie, IN, daughter Emilee (husband Andre) Peterson of Chesapeake, VA, and daughter Samantha Smock of Greenfield, IN.
Jeff had a 25-year professional career in Telecommunications. This work took him all over the country. In 2020, Jeff used his expertise to open his own business, Ripple Telecom.
Music was a big part of Jeff’s life. He began playing trumpet at an early age and occasionally performed with bands in Central Indiana. Jeff’s favorite band was the Grateful Dead, hence including the title of his favorite song (Ripple) in his business name. He also loved to travel, especially with family and friends. Favorite destinations were Hutchinson Island, FL and New York City. Jeff was a total foodie. He loved to cook and grill out. He enjoyed trying new recipes and preparing seafood boils, as well as sampling various cuisines and visiting new restaurants.
Most importantly, Jeff loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, and family member. Jeff was a friend to many and a special boss to his beloved Ripple employees.
Jeff is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert F. and Anna L. Smock, Mary Young, as well as his maternal grandparents, Gene and Euna Back.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mindy Smock, their three children, Noah Smock, Emilee (husband Andre) Peterson, and Samantha Smock. Additionally, he is survived by his parents, his brother Scott Smock, stepsisters Michele Benson, Christina Rea, Tisha Smilko and Gretchen Heinrich, and stepbrothers Logan Heinrich and Kevin Rea, as well as various other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM also at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East Funeral Center.
The funeral service to celebrate Jeff’s life will follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Randy Stone of Buck Creek Baptist Church will officiate.
A short graveside service and burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Jeff are invited to Pleasant View Baptist Church for a luncheon after the graveside service. 12442 Southeastern Ave, Acton, IN.
