Jeffrey A Obenchain

Jeff Obenchain of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away after a brief illness on August 19, 2026, at the age of 64. He was born in Marion, IN, on June 18, 1962 to parents, Kenneth and Vernice (Honeycutt) Obenchain.

He grew up in Jonesboro, Indiana and graduated from Mississinewa High School. While still in high school, he began working for Marsh Supermarkets, where he went on to enjoy a 20-year career, serving in a variety of roles and locations. He later worked for Perfection Bakeries before joining Clawson Communications, where he spent 21 years before retiring in 2021.

Jeff loved the outdoors but what he treasured most was sharing good times with the people that meant the most to him. He and Dana traveled extensively over the years and had many adventures together. Some of his happiest times were spent with family and close friends-golfing, boating, camping and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was also a devoted fan who enjoyed cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in canning and sharing what he grew, especially green beans, salsa and pickles.

On May 22, 1993, Jeff married Dana J. Simpson, who survives him. He is also survived by his sister, Theda Anderson (Robby) of Sheridan, Indiana; his nephew, Chancellor Anderson (Vilma Rasi), great nephew, Elias Anderson and great niece, Mariel Anderson all of Helsinki, Finland; in-laws Charles and Linda Simpson of Westfield, Indiana and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Clayton Anderson.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan -Hamilton Memorial Park - Prairie Waters (4180 Westfield Rd. Westfield, IN

46062) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

A service honoring Jeff's life will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m.
