Obituary

Jeffrey Ross Bishop, 73, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on June 29, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Richard E. Bishop and Barbara A. (Dodd) Bishop.

Jeff graduated from North Central High School in 1971. He then attended Vincennes University for one year, and IUPUI for one year. He started working at Keystone Lighting in 1969 while he was still in high school. In 1989 he started Bishop Lighting in Carmel with his family, and he was instrumental in growing the business with his dad. Bishop Lighting prospered for 22 years before closing its doors in 2011. Jeff then proceeded to work part time at Echo Management until 2024.

Jeff was a lover of all sports, especially gold and all forms of auto racing. He was a trivia expert on The Indianapolis 500 since attending his first race in 1960.

Jeff has a great sense of humor and was gregarious and fun loving. Just ask the Wednesday afternoon Golf Group! Thanks to all the guys for the fun, the memories, and the comradery.

He is survived by his sister, Leslie Bishop, who says “he fought with you about the little things but agreed with all the big things.” Lately, he enjoyed reconnecting with his East Coast cousins, Rachel and Lucy.

Thank you to all his good friends who supported and inspired him through the years, especially Charlie and Kathy Greer.

Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Ascension St. Vincent’s, and all at Compassus Hospice for the great care and concern shown to him during his stays there.

As per his wishes, there will be no viewing or service. He wanted everyone to remember him in their own way. No tears, only laughter allowed! Wish him well because his next life is going to be awesome!
