Jeffrey R. Babbs

Indianapolis, Indiana – Jeffrey R. Babbs, 82, passed away on October 9, 2025. His humor, his kindness, and his unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jeff was born to parents Harold Babbs & Vivian (Minix) Bratton on January 31, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Thomas Carr Howe High School and after graduating, went to work almost immediately with Ford Automotive. He retired after 45 years as a millwright.

When not working, Jeffrey enjoyed a good game of chess, working with his model trains, and maybe a sly prank or two.

Most of all though, Jeff was devoted to his family. He loved his wife, Mari, dearly, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His heart was far younger than his 82 years would say, and spending time with them was his greatest joy.

In addition to his parents, Jeff is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Scott Babbs.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mari (Davisson) Babbs; children Mari Deborah Aponte (John Radez), Dawn Fowler (Scott), Melissa Lee – Parrish (Kevin Lee); brother David Bratton (Christine); grandchildren Dustin Aponte (Rebecca), Matthew Parrish (Adrienne), Ashley Sutton (Jimmy), Nicole Fowler, Michael Parrish, Mitchell Parrish (Kristen), and Mary Jessica Parrish; great-grandchildren Eleni, Eleanor, Benjamin, Lyric, Simon, Finn, and William.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 12-3 pm. Placement will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery following the visitation.
