Jeanne Winters Bennett

September 20, 1924 — April 17, 2013

Jeanne Winters Bennett 88, was born 20 September 1924 and died 17 April 2013. Daughter of Ferdinand and Mary Dewitt Winters who predeceased her. She was a graduate of George Washington High School (GHWS) where she enjoyed both school activities and sports, was a member of the National Honor Society and the GWHS Alumni Club. She received a scholarship to Butler University and belonged to Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she taught high school English in Fowler, Indiana and physical education at Ladywood School in Indianapolis. She worked on the staff of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra until she retired. Jeanne was extremely creative and liked to read, journal, knit, sew, quill, decoupage and travel. She was both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, belonged to Welcome Wagon and bridge club. She will always be remembered for her sparkling blue eyes and warm, loving personality. She is survived by her brother, Edwin Winters; three children, Jo Ellen (Rod) Grimes Avon, IN, James Bennett, Summerfield, FL, and Elaine Fontana, Gainesville, VA; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Gina) Grimes, Douglas (Lori) Bennett, Emily (John) Heavrin and Elizabeth (Kevin) Bernfield; and five great-grandchildren Jackson Morris, Vance Grimes, Carter Grimes, Abraham Bennett and Lily Anna Morris who predeceased her.
