Jeanne Hamilton Rono, age 81 of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Wednesday afternoon December 17, 2025.

A visitation will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service following at 1:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan -  Floral Park located at 425 N. Holt Rd, Indianapolis, 46222.

Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.

Jeanne was born on December 14, 1944 in South Bend, IN, a daughter of Dale Frank and Carol Mae (Thomas) Hamilton. She was one of seven children. As her father was a Methodist minister she is officially a PK (preacher’s kid). She is survived by her siblings Don (wife Donna) Hamilton, Nancy Sproal, Kay (husband Lamar) Ziegler and Phil Hamilton. She is preceded in death by her brothers Jerry Hamilton and Mark Hamilton.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews as well as other family members and relatives.

She married Pomo M. Rono on May 6,1989 after a two year courtship in Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years. This after a cautious 1st date at Laughners Cafeteria where they drove separately in case things didn’t work out. They joined Chapel Rock Church after many years at Lakeview Christian Church.

Jeanne grew up in Richland Center and Monon Indiana. She graduated from Rockville High School and followed up with two years of business school. This prepared her for her career as a secretary with her last employer being with the Indiana Council of Churches.

Her interests included bicycling in the neighborhood and on the B&O Trail where she also entered walking events, earning several medals for her age group. She enjoyed birds and she and Pomo visited state parks. This allowed her to fulfill her other passion: collecting rocks. They enjoyed traveling to the Tampa, FL area where sea shells were added to her rock collection. She loved dogs and often had Pomo drive to a friend’s house…not to see the people but visit their dogs. Add flower gardening and spending daily time in God’s word and reading devotions and she was a busy and fulfilled lady.

She was a loving wife and loved the Lord and loved others. Her compassion for others was expressed by visiting shut-ins and dispensing wisdom to her neighbor’s granddaughter. Unbeknownst to her husband, she compiled a huge memory album where she saved notes, letters and souvenirs from their life together. She was a petite but mighty evangelist often asking people at the gym and even from a hospital bed “Do you know Jesus?”

Jeanne, we simply didn’t have enough time with you and miss your gentle spirit and mischievous smile.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wheeler Mission, PO Box 3085, Indianapolis, IN 46206 or Mission Indy c/o Chapel Rock Christian Church, 2020 N. Girls School Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46214.
