Jeanine A. Stewart

Jeanine Altwies Stewart, cherished wife, and beloved mother lost her battle with cancer at home in Carmel, IN on August 26th, 2022. She was born in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO on March 29, 1964, to Tom & Marsha Altwies.

Following graduation from Ball State University in 1986, she began a career in pharmaceutical sales with Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, IN. An avid fitness enthusiast, she later realized a lifelong dream when she founded & opened Absolute Fitness, a well-known fitness facility in Fishers, IN, where she trained others in their desire to become fit.

She married the love of her life, Gregory Stewart on September 2, 2000. Shortly thereafter, business endeavors took them to the Asia Pacific region of the world as expats, living in China and Singapore for 10yrs. They raised their young sons as global citizens, not allowing borders, culture, or languages to be barriers in their upbringing. As a family, they thrived on traveling to many faraway places such as Macau, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Australia, Cambodia, and the Philippines, to name a few.

Jeanine embraced living abroad, cultivating strong, lasting friendships with individuals from all over the globe, and always welcoming friends and family from home who visited regularly. She was a remarkable person who made everyone feel special. She was a dear friend to all who met her – truly, she was the brightest light in any room.

She is survived by her spouse, Gregory Stewart of Carmel, IN, her children Jackson & Samuel Stewart of Carmel, IN, her parents Marsha Altwies of Indianapolis, IN, Tom Altwies (Betty) of Cincinnati, OH, sisters Margie Beiswanger (AJ) of Indianapolis, IN, Kathy Hearne (Kirk) of North Vernon, IN, and nephew Lawson Hearne of Carmel, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Our Lady of Peace Chapel & Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46240.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

A special thanks to the incredible care teams at Community North MD Anderson Cancer Center and Franciscan Hospice Group, who’s tireless dedication and support made an enormous difference in the later stages of Jeanine’s life.
