Jeanette Collins - Hole

August 31, 1924 — February 12, 2011

Jeanette Collins Hole, a native of Dallas, Texas, died February 12, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born August 31, 1924, Jeanette was one of four children of Wright K. Smith, Sr. and Myrtle Allsup Smith. Along with her two sisters and brother, Jeanette graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After a brief stint in college, Jeanette began her professional career in executive administration and as a loving Mother. In 1942, Jeanette married Harold A. Hulse and was later married to William Thomas Collins in 1955. Living in Dallas, they raised a warm and loving family with two daughters, one son, and one step daughter. Jeanette later moved to Indianapolis where she married Clayton Eugene (Gene) Hole. Jeanette’s strong organizational and management skills were highly valued by several Dallas corporate executives. Jeanette worked for the Dealey’s at the Dallas Morning News for many years, and then completed her fulltime career as the Office Manager for Michigan General in Dallas, TX. Even after retiring, Jeanette stayed busy and remained connected to corporate life by working part time for Flanner Buchanan Mortuary in Carmel, IN. An energetic and life loving person, Jeanette successfully combined her corporate career with her role of loving and devoted Mother and wife. A warm and caring individual, Jeanette enjoyed people from all walks of life, and was an immediate friend to all. She particularly enjoyed her volunteer activities later in life, and she helped others and provided leadership to several charity and care giving organizations. One of Jeanette’s passions centered on programs for the elderly, as shown by her ten years as President of the Carmel Shepherd Center, followed by five years as the Shepherd Center’s Program Chairman. Jeanette was also Director of the Carmel United Church Food Pantry from 1990-2001. Jeanette was preceded in death by her former husbands, Harold A. Hulse and William Thomas (Bill) Collins, her brother, Wright K. Smith, her two sisters, Mildred ("Mimi") Jernigan and Margaret Steely (all of Dallas) and her first born daughter Jeanette Arden Griffin (Dallas and Carmel). She is survived by her husband Clayton Eugene (Gene) Hole (Carmel, IN), son Walter Kirk Hulse (and wife Janice, Singapore) and daughter Vicki Lee Robinson (Carmel, IN); grandchildren Candi Cann Ancarani (Hawaii), Kelly Cann (South Carolina), Alisa J. Dyer (and husband, Wally, Charlotte, MI), Matthew Hulse, Jennifer L. Dyer (New York), Mitchell Hulse ( Boulder, Co, and Michelle Robinson (Carmel, IN); great-grandsons, Stanley Bullard and Adrian Stadler (Charlotte, MI); great-granddaughter Maia Arden Ancarani (HI), as well as a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, family, and friends from Texas, Indiana and other US states. Visitation will be held on February 15 from 4-7 PM at Flanner and Buchanan, Carmel, IN. A graveside will be held in Dallas, TX at a later date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alzfdn.org/). You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
