Jean Lee (Thompson) Tuxhorn, 92, of Indianapolis, died on September 23, 2025. She was born on November 14, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN, to Turley and Mary Thompson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Lee Tuxhorn.
She graduated from Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, and was a registered nurse for the rest of her career. Jean worked at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, in the nursery for many years, and also served as a school nurse and a Visiting Nurse. She was a Girl Scout leader, active in the PTA, and was a lifelong lover of cats and other animals. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis.
Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly (Duane) Werling of Pendleton; son, Evan Tuxhorn of Brandon, FL; grandchildren Elyse (Alex Schlegel) Werling, Kelsey (Kevin) Mellinger, Brooke Tuxhorn, Alex Tuxhorn, and great-grandson Oliver Mellinger. She was a beloved grandmother and will be deeply missed.
A one-hour visitation will precede a funeral service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, IN, on Friday, September 26, 2025. Visitation begins at 5:30pm and the service at 6:30pm. Burial will be at Sutherland Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
